Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 also known professionally as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October 2016 Ari Lennox debuted her EP Pho. It was here that she received recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012, with the release of her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. She continued to upload her music online in 2014, which included the self-released single Bound. In 2015, she was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on July 21st. Later that year her music began to circulate throughout the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some possible references for Rihanna. The official signing ceremony was held with Dreamville Records on 8 December. The release album Revenge of the Dreamers II, she appeared on the track Backseat with Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016, she dropped her debut EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and was an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. In 2018, she appeared in two of her songs with label-mates EarthGang in the video for Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018. A music video then released in September. Her second single Grampa on November 9. In November 13, she came out with two additional singles, No One or Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby then made an appearance on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She dropped this track as a single to promote her debut titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. A music video debuted 20 February 2019 in order to accompany the track. Within a week, it had over 3,000,000 views. As a supporting act, she toured together with 6LACK in December 2018 on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
